Paxman Valenta Engine – Last Run

The Paxman Valenta engines was first installed on British Rail’s Inter City 125 train 30 years ago – making it the world’s fastest diesel train.

To mark the end of these engines – they’re being replaced with new, greener, power, a special train operated from Leicester, Derby Chesterfield and Sheffield to York and Scarborough, in aid of The Railway Children charity.

The recording point was between the Rhine bridge and the station, with a direct view to the cathedral.
